Modeling Watersheds

8th graders are learning about watersheds as we investigate human impacts on trout.

River Front Property

8th grade students were given a plot of river-front land to develop however they would like. The next day they learned that their pieces of property all connected along the same river. They also saw how each change they chose to make on their plot of land, affected the river and the lands downstream from them. So even the student who chose only to cut down some trees and put up a deer stand on his plot, was still majorly affected by the changes their classmates made upstream.
