Extra-curricular Activities
Students experience a range of extracurricular activities during school hours. Activities vary from term to term. Some are outlined below.
Swimming
September is the time of year for our older children to attend swimming lessons in Nenagh Swimming pool. Always a favourite - the tuition is of the highest order and caters for the most capable swimmer right down to those who are new to it (and more than a little apprehensive).
A little bit of Kilkeary history, as Cillian Grace (Hurling), Harry Ryan (Gaelic Football) and Katie Hartnett (Camogie) are all selected for Tipp Primary Games in 2025
Hurling & Gaelic Football
Kilkeary has a proud record of participation in the annual Cumann na mBunscol blitzes in North Tipperary. Most recently, (Sept 2025) our U11s played football against Redwood NS, Ballinaclough NS and Kyle Park NS. In the Spring time, we hope to field an U11 hurling team along with an U13 Camogie team and an U13 Hurling team. Above are three history-making Kilkeary students, Cillian Grace (Hurling), Harry Ryan (Football) and Katie Hartnett (Camogie) who represented the school in The Primary Game in 2025. A fabulous achievement for the children and their families
Sustainability
We visited the Eco Village in Cloughjordan to see sustainability in action. The children learned about sustainable life. We have successfully applied for and been awarded grants under the ESD to 2030 - Funding Call for Schools.
Music Generation
We are fortunate to have the services of Music Generation Tipperary to add to the music education in Kilkeary. Children take part in the Primary Beats programme with older children learning an instrument.
Art
Children in Kilkeary enjoy a wide range of artistic endeavours aligned with the Primary Art Curriculum.
Sport in Kilkeary
Children enjoy a wide range of sport in school, including basketball, tennis, rounders, soccer as well as hurling & football.
