The beat is the steady pulse that you feel in the tune, like a clock’s tick. It’s the beat you’d naturally clap along to, or tap your foot to.
Rhythm is what makes music move and flow. Rhythm is made up of sounds and silences. These sounds and silences are put together to form patterns of sound, which are repeated to create rhythm.
A Pitch is how high or low a note sounds in relation to it's location on a musical staff.
A Staff is a set of five lines with four space in which music is written.
Note Recognition is the skill of identifying a note that appears on the staff, and is fundamental to reading music. Even if you already know how to read music, improving the speed and accuracy of your note recognition will make you a better sight reader.
Dynamics means how quietly or loudly a piece of music should be played. Dynamics are an important way of conveying the mood of a piece and your use of dynamics is a marked element of your performance.
