My name is Megan Kautzer, and I’m thrilled to serve as the school counselor for students in grades 5 through 8 at Kiel Middle School. My role involves providing direct support to students through engaging classroom lessons, personalized counseling sessions, and small group discussions. I also collaborate with school staff, community organizations, and parents to ensure that we meet the diverse needs of ALL students.
This is my seventh year as the counselor at Kiel Middle School in Kiel, Wisconsin. Prior to this, I spent three rewarding years as a school counselor at St. Mary's Springs in Fond du Lac. I hold a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership Policy and Analysis (ELPA) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, along with a Master’s Degree in School Counseling from Lakeland University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. Currently, I am pursuing further education at Concordia University to earn two additional licenses: Director of Pupil Services and Special Education, and Director of Curriculum and Learning.
As a school counselor, I find immense joy in getting to know each student and discovering ways to help them cultivate the skills necessary for success in middle school and beyond. I frequently work with students individually or in small groups. My short-term individual counseling sessions focus on enhancing classroom behavior, supporting academic growth, fostering self-awareness, boosting self-esteem, and developing skills in problem-solving, decision-making, and social interaction. These sessions equip students with strategies to thrive both academically and personally. In small group sessions, I facilitate discussions on a variety of topics throughout the year, such as stress and anxiety management, friendship, organization, and self-esteem, adapting to the evolving needs of students as the school year unfolds.
