Welcome to the Kiel Middle School Counseling Page! My name is Ashley Andre and I am the school counselor for Kiel students in grades 5th through 8th. Through this website, I am hoping to give families, community members, and other interested individuals an idea of what the Kiel Middle School Counseling Program does to support and encourage the social, academic, and career development of students.
"School counselors help students focus on academics, career, and social/emotional development so they can achieve success in school and are prepared to lead fulfilling lives as responsible members of society." - American School Counseling Association
Tier One - Tier one interventions are provided to all students
Tier Two - Tier two interventions provide a smaller population of students with more direct attention
Tier Three - Tier three interventions are of a higher intensity and are only offered to a few students
According to CASEL, (The Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning) Social and Emotional Learning is the process through which children and adults understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.
In 2018, the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction introduced the Social and Emotional Learning Competencies. Each competency helps ensure all Wisconsin students are developing the social and emotional skills essential for personal, academic, and social success.
