ENTRY INSTRUCTIONS

QUALIFICATIONS FOR ENTRY

To be eligible to submit your entry to the 100 Architects of the Year, you need to:

be a member of the Union Internationale des Architectes (UIA), the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the Japan Institute of Architects (JIA), or another association of architects representing a certain country, or otherwise be an architect recognized by such an association of architects; or
be directly invited by the organizer; or
have won awards or competitions recognizable by the Steering Committee of the 100 Architects of the Year.

All entries must be original, entirely the work of the entrant, completed in construction or in design (concept) within the last three years, and free from any copyright infringements!

TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR ENTRY

By submitting work, you and your company or organization agree to grant the Korean Institute of Architects and the Union Internationale de Architectes (hereinafter, the "Organizers") a worldwide, royalty-free license to use the submitted work and your name and profile for exhibition, publicity, and promotion purposes.
You represent and warrant that your entry and the content which you submit is your original work and do not infringe the rights of any third party and agree to indemnify and hold the Organizers harmless from any and all claims, liabilities, losses, and damages of any kind arising in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from your participation in the 100 Architects of the Year, and from the Organizers’ use of your entry.
Once the application window is closed, the registration fee you have paid will not be refundable; provided, however, that if your entry is not selected for the exhibition, you may request a refund. In the case of a refund, costs incurred for money transfer (transfer or exchange rate fees charged by credit institutions) are to be borne by you.
It is your responsibility to stay informed of any update regarding the submission deadlines and other requirements by regularly checking this website and to ensure compliance with them.
You shall not raise any objection to the jury process, evaluation criteria, and the results of the jury's selection and shall maintain the confidentiality of any information obtained in the course of participation in the 100 Architects of the Year until the official announcement of the results of the jury's selection.
After the main exhibition event in Seoul, in October this year, the 100 Architects of the Year 2025 exhibition may go on a tour around the country and the world. In the case of such an additional traveling exhibition, we may request you to make a financial contribution to the organization of the traveling exhibition.
You shall be responsible to submit your work for the exhibition in time and retrieve the submitted work after the exhibition; meanwhile, the organizer of the 100 Architects of the Year shall be responsible for the safekeeping and handling of the submitted works during the exhibition period.
Any other matters not covered in these terms and conditions shall be handled in accordance with the decision of the Steering Committee of the 100 Architects of the Year.

NOTE. The above dates may be adjusted. We will notify you of any changes by posting a prominent notice on this site.

NOTE. It is up to the applicant to decide whether to submit her/his work in video form, model form, or both.

STEP 0: REGISTRATION OF ENTRY

Please download this registration form, fill it out with the required information about your project and you as the architect, and sign it with your signature.

Submit the completed registration form, if possible along with the other required documents and materials listed below, via email to: 100architects@kia.or.kr.

Pay the entry fee of US$300 which we will invoice you via PayPal once we receive your registration form.

STEP 1: SUBMISSION OF SUPPORT MATERIALS

EVIDENCE OF YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

To prove your qualification for the 100 Architects of the Year 2025, you must submit any of the following as a single PDF file:

Any documents or legible photocopies thereof which prove your membership of an association of architects, such as the UIA, AIA, JIA, etc. or recognition given by such an association to non-member architects; and/or
Certificate(s) of award or winning competition recognizable to the organizer of the 100 Architects of the Year

STEP 2: SUBMISSION OF WORK

EACH ENTRANT CAN SUBMIT ONLY ONE WORK!

IMAGE FILES FOR THE EXHIBITION BOOK

File format: JPG
Image resolution: 300 DPI
Number of images required: 10
File naming convention: Number the files from Image 1 to 10 in sequential order (book layout and editing will be done by the organizer)

You may submit all kinds of graphic representations of ideas, concepts, and design work, including but not limited to photos, diagrams, charts, and sketches.

In the publication, each architect/work will be assigned two facing pages (one spread).

It is up to the organizer to decide whether to use in the publication all or some of the images you have submitted and, in the latter case, which ones.

From the sample images on the right, you can get a glimpse of how the 100 Architects of the Year 2025 publication would look like.

Note: Book design, layout, and editing will be done by the organizer.

ARCHITECT'S PROFILE PHOTO

File format: JPG
File resolution: 300 DPI
Number of images required: 1
File size: 30mm (W) x 40mm (H)

Even if you are a team of two or more architects, you are still required to submit only one image the size of 30mm (W) x 40mm (H), either as a group photo or one composite image consisting of several profile photos!

SUBMISSION OF WORK IN DIGITAL VIDEO FORM

If you have decided to submit your work for the video exhibition, or for both the video exhibition and model exhibition, please submit the video in compliance with the following technical requirements:

(File format) H.264, MOV., and MP4 are recommended for compatibility
(Image resolution) 1920 x 1080 (16:9, at minimum 1080p HD)
Runtime: 1 minute at minimum and 3 minutes at maximum
Subtitles: English or English with Korean

If you record videos using mobile devices such as smartphones, please take video in landscape orientation.
Please send us the video using file sharing/transfer services such as Dropbox, WeTransfer, etc.
You must obtain all necessary licenses for the copyrighted music used in the video. If your video does not work due to copyright infringement, the organizer may delete the sound in the video as they see fit.

SUBMISSION OF WORK IN PHYSICAL MODEL FORM

If you have decided to submit your work for the model exhibition, or for both the model exhibition and video exhibition, please submit the model in compliance with the following technical requirements:

Model size: 600mm (W) x 600mm (D)
Maximum allowable height of the model: 2,500mm

The model size specified above does not refer to the actual size of a model but the area to be occupied by it.
Subsequent to the announcement of the results of the jury's selection in early October (TBA), models must be delivered to the organizer by the end of day on 19 October 2025.
