WORLD BOOK DAY 2026
THEME: East Asian Comic Con
This year's World Book Day was a celebration of East Asian culture.
We looked into art, origami, food, and media . . .
The winner of our Comic-con Trail and proud owner of a Tofu Cute mystery bag is . . .
BH: Merryn 10G5!
BP: Harry 705!
Tofu Cute is a shop specialising in kawaii gifts, accessories and stationery, and tasty Japanese snacks.
Much of their stock can’t be bought elsewhere in the UK or Europe as they’ve sourced it directly from East Asian countries such as Japan, Korea, Taiwan, & Hong Kong. Often they’ll stock limited quantities of an item, making them sought after!
Bay House pupils couldn’t get enough of the Tofu Cute stall at the Comic Con. Laska and Holly did an incredible job dressing the stand with a colourful range of Japanese snacks and merchandise, and it quickly became one of the busiest spots at the event. By lunchtime they’d already had to call their shop for extra stock. Thanks to Laska and Holly for working so hard all day (without a break) to keep the Bay House customers happy!
A fixture on the Lee-on-the-Solent High Street for 90 years, The Book Shop is the oldest shop in Lee-on-the-Solent, and one of the oldest surviving independent booksellers on the South Coast.
Sarah and Jazz did such an incredible job running their stall, bringing such a fantastic selection of books--including manga, kpop demon hunters merch, and World Book Day books--and so much enthusiasm to the day. We're so grateful for the time and effort they put in!

WELL DONE TO EVERYONE WHO TOOK ON THE CHALLENGE!
We feel incredibly lucky to have welcomed Chie Kutsuwada to support our comic con at Bay House! A talented manga artist and illustrator, Chie brought so much creativity and inspiration to the day. It was such a special opportunity for our students to meet a profesional artist, learn from her, and experience her passion for stroytelling and drawing firsthand.
Her support truly made the even unforgettable, and we are so grateful she took the time to be apart of it.
Here are two books that Chie has illustrated. You may also recognise her work from the Manga Shakespeare adaptation of As You Like It!

A huge shoutout to Miss Bromyard who truly put her heart and soul into bringing Godzilla to life at our comic con!
From the incredible creativity behind her work to the amazing range of handmade gifts available to purchase, every detail showed just how much care and passion she poured into it. It was such a unique and exciting addition to the day, and it didn't go unnoticed!
WORLD BOOK DAY 2025
Theme: Best of World Book Day
This year, we wanted to celebrate the many World Book Day events we have put on in the past. This included Harry Potter, The Hunger Games (Dystopian Worlds), Lord of the Rings/Hobbit, and Snow White (Twisted Fairytales).
We brought back our most popular displays from these events--including The Shire, Ron's Car, and a sinister Snow White--and created a themed scavenger hunt around the school for students to earn House Points!
We also held a cake sale to raise money for Book Aid International.
WORLD BOOK DAY 2024
Theme: Myths and Legends
The Library activity this year was a themed Myths and Legends murder mystery. Members of staff from both schools took part!
