In April of 2019, a young woman, her two children, and her mother moved to Washington state. She had the dedication and ambition to give her family a better life and was committed to herself to self-growth, learning, and healing. After just being here for almost half a year, the young woman had the pleasure of being introduced to an immensely powerful black woman. This young lady is me, Genaya Rosetta-Allen Smith. And the powerful black woman is none other than Shennetta Smith.
Shennetta Smith has been a blessing in my life since the day I have met her. Not only has she continued to motivate me and keep me uplifted in spirits. Shennetta has gone above and beyond to help me succeed. During our first meet, she explained to me that her focus is on her organization called, “Diamonds In The Rough.” The concept of the program, to this day, still gives me chills; in a marvelous way. I felt so empowered. I felt so motivated. I felt so focused, that I knew what I had to do. We knew what we had to do. And because of that conversation, in that Starbucks coffee shop, I now have a functioning LLC, a certification in marketing, clients, a website, and an ecommerce store. They are surviving during Covid because of the tools, the motivation, and the courage that Shennetta planted in me when we first met. And our story, together, is to be continued….
