In October, 2022, Kevin Prine was sworn in as the President of the Virginia Association of Assessing Officers. During his time as President, the organization has seen significant improvements including:
Winning the 2023 IAAO Outstanding Chapter/Affiliate Award for Virginia.
Changing the membership newsletter, The Network, from a quarterly publication to a monthly publication
Host live VAAO continuing education events throughout Virginia in all regions. Continuing education courses covered nearly every portion of the state within a 70 mile radius.
Development of an Ad hoc Governance Committee to review all VAAO governing documents for accuracy, consistency, and relevance.
Development of an Ad hoc Internship Committee to create a universal 6-8 week internship program that can be utilized by assessment offices throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. The program includes items such as:
o Tentative schedule(s)
o IAAO Education & Course Materials
o VAAO Information
o Basic job opportunities in property valuation, taxation, GIS, modeling, programming, etc.
