What made you join Jazz Band?
A: "I joined jazz because I enjoy how different it is from more popular music and it’s much more fun to play. "
Q. What do you enjoy the most about performing?
A:" I get the most enjoyment whenever I see people find an appreciation to jazz when it’s the type of music that is not usually someone’s first choice. "
What will you miss most about jazz band after graduation?
A: "I will miss the opportunities to connect with other jazz bands and listening to their music sets. Of course I’ll also miss Martens’ rants during class."
What made you join Jazz Band?
A: "I really like the music that we play in there and jazz typically has a smaller number of members than other bands so its easier to connect with people."
What do you enjoy the most about performing?
A: "Improvisation has always been something I've enjoyed doing. I like the freedom its gives and the creativity it encourages. It's a big accomplishment when you're able to make something sound good without planning it."
What will you miss most about jazz band after graduation?
A: "I'll miss playing with a band. Every instrument is important and I like the feeling of having a role in something bigger."
What made you join Jazz Band?
A: "I've always loved jazz as a whole and entering Ridgeview Jazz program seemed like the right fit for me!"
What do you enjoy the most about performing?
A: "My favorite part about performing is remembering all the practices it took to get there, both the good and bad practices with the jazz band made it all worth it."
What will you miss most about jazz band after graduation?
A: "I will miss the community in the jazz band the most since not only have i fallen in love with jazz and how creative and musically free it can be bit also the people that made everyday memorable."

A: "I joined jazz because of my experience with my middle school jazz band!!"
What do you enjoy the most about performing?
A: "What i most enjoy when performing is the ability to have a mic and really spill out your emotions, the ability to tell your own story without muttering a single word is amazing to me"
What will you miss most about jazz band after graduation?
A: "I'll definitely miss the people I've met, not only from Ridgeview, but from the other jazz bands, and then the instructors from many events that I've attended"
What made you join Jazz Band?
A: " I joined jazz band because I enjoy all different kinds of music, especially jazz, and I believe jazz is one of the most expressive forms of music a person could listen to or perform"
What do you enjoy the most about performing?
A: "What I enjoy most about performing for jazz is all the music you get to create with others around you and being able to share that experience together"
What will you miss most about jazz band after graduation?
A: "What I will miss about jazz after graduation is all the memories I've made through jazz, all the experiences I've got to have such as field trips or even just concerts and compliments about our performances"

What are the main styles or genres that we'll be exploring this year?
The main styles to be covered this year are funk and blues but we will be exploring all styles and including more vocalists this year.
What is your favorite part of the job?
My favorite part is the time after a performance when we have accomplished a goal, and everything when very well. That's when I can relax.
What is your favorite memory teaching?
My favorite memories are when I get to see our former students continuing to perform, become professional musicians or music reaches. Makes me proud to know they love to make music as much as i do. Brings back good memories of the great times we had together "back in the day", as they say.
