The State Center Community College District—serving Fresno, Madera, and surrounding counties—offers inclusive, high-quality education through Fresno City College, Reedley College, Clovis Community College, and Madera Community College. SCCCD provides multiple paths including associate degrees, career certificates, and Associate Degrees for Transfer (ADT) that streamline progression to California State Universities.
Fresno City College (FCC), founded in 1910 and serving tens of thousands, is the most accessible college for KHS students. It offers a wide range of programs and is well-positioned to support our local community.
At KUSD, we support all 12th-grade students through every stage of the enrollment process to FCC—helping with applications, orientation, placement, and more—to ensure they start their college journey successfully.

Fresno State, a proud member of CSU, champions local students through its Bulldog Bound program. Beginning in 9th grade, eligible students from partner school districts are guaranteed admission to Fresno State—backed by early support with admissions prep, career exploration, financial aid estimates, summer engagement, and more. The University of California (UC) is California’s renowned public research university system, boasting 10 campuses that collectively educate nearly 300,000 students. Closest to KHS: UC Merced
As the newest member of the UC family (established in 2005), UC Merced is roughly one hour north of Fresno, making it the most geographically convenient UC campus for students at KHS. With a growing student body of around 9,100 and a strong emphasis on sustainability, innovation, and small-campus community, UC Merced provides an inviting, accessible pathway to a UC education.

Branches such as the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and Space Force provide training, career development, and tuition assistance for higher education.
Kerman High School regularly hosts military recruiters on campus who can answer questions, provide information, and guide students through the enlistment process. KHS also offers ASVAB on campus. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the first step for seniors planning to attend college, career school, or trade programs. Completing the FAFSA opens the door to grants, scholarships, work-study, and loans to help pay for your education.
At Kerman High School, our Learning Directors are here to guide students and families through the FAFSA process—from creating an FSA ID to submitting the application. We host workshops every Wednesday in October and November, provide one-on-one support, and answer any questions along the way.
💡 Important Deadline: The FAFSA opens on October 1st and must be submitted by March 2nd to be considered for Cal Grants and maximum aid opportunities.

The California Dream Act Application (CADAA) allows undocumented and nonresident students who meet certain criteria to apply for state financial aid, including Cal Grants, the Middle Class Scholarship, and other California student aid programs.
At Kerman High School, our Learning Directors are committed to supporting students and families through the CADAA process. We provide workshops every Wednesday in October and November, one-on-one guidance, and assistance with submitting the application to ensure students have access to the financial resources they need to continue their education.

Kerman High School uses the California College Guidance Initiative (CCGI) to help students plan for life after high school. Through CCGI, students explore careers, research colleges, and build their academic plans during Tier 1 counseling lessons.
We also use CCGI to launch important senior milestones, including the FAFSA/CADAA financial aid applications and college applications. This platform ensures students have the tools and support they need to stay on track for graduation and their post-secondary goals.
