COVID Stories

From the Science Writing class at Kenyon College

Spring 2020

May 2020

Gambier, Ohio

At least thirteen good things resulted from the coronavirus pandemic.

When Ohio shut down midway through Kenyon College's spring break, everything changed, including the syllabus for English 404, Science Writing. Once remote teaching began, the students were asked to tell a story in 300 words about their own experiences with the virus. The lone caveat was that science would play no role in the story. The next week, they work-shopped their stories over Zoom. They were then tasked with looking into the science of the coronavirus and the pandemic. The last step was to return to their story and give it more depth, more tension by adding science.

These are their stories.
