A selection of Art Loan works will be shown in a mini-exhibition at the beginning of the Academic Year in the Meier-Draudt Curatorial Classroom of The Gund. This selection of works will be on view from Thursday, August 29 to Wednesday, September 11, 2024.
Any student who lives on campus (and will be living on campus the full academic year) and is interested in borrowing a work of art will need to submit an online ballot using the below Google Form. On this ballot, you will list your top 5 choices should your name be chosen. Ballots must be submitted by noon on Wednesday, September 11, 2024. One entry per student.
You must live on campus for the entire academic year to be eligible for art loan (ie. you cannot go abroad either or both semesters).
After the ballot submission period is over, the names of 103 individuals will be selected at random from those who submitted ballots.
The individuals whose names have been chosen will be notified by email which artwork they were matched with and instructions to come to the Gallery Thursday, September 12, 2024 to either pick up their Art Loan object or to arrange for its installation in their dorm room.
While at The Gund, borrowers will need to fill out all required paperwork and authorize a $30 loan fee to be applied to their student account. Borrowers must present a valid Kenyon ID at this time. They will then be given the artwork, all necessary hardware, and detailed instructions on how to properly install the work in their dorm or they will schedule a date / time for the work to be installed by The Gund Associates (these installations will take place September 16-20).
Enjoy your artwork for the duration of the semester! Be sure to provide a safe and secure home for the artwork.
Art Loan returns will take place in May at the end of the residential portion of the Academic Year. A Gund representative will contact you to coordinate a date/time for you to return the work to The Gund or for The Gund Associates to collect it from your dorm room.
All works need to be returned to The Gund by Friday, May 2, 2025. Failure to return the work on time will result in a $5 per day overdue fee (including weekends).
