The conference hotel is The Granville Inn. We will also have rooms reserved at the Buxton Inn.
The Granville Inn and Buxton Inn are located in the Village of Granville, within walking distance of campus, and have room blocks reserved for our conference. We will make shuttle transportation available to those who would rather not climb “College Hill” on Sunday afternoon or descend in the evening. Buses to Kenyon will leave from the Granville Inn on Monday morning and return there Monday night. Meetings on Tuesday will be held at the Carriage House at the Granville Inn.
The Granville Inn (314 East Broadway) is holding 23 rooms for us, at a rate of $179. Use code OBLIB1024. Reserve by September 6, 2024. Cancellations must be made by September 20 for a refund. Reserve at granvilleinn.com or call 740-587-3333.
The Buxton Inn (313 East Broadway), directly across the street from the Granville Inn, is a unique assortment of rooms in historic homes that can accommodate 1-4 guests. Rates range from $208 to $374 per night. We have 25 rooms blocked for us, with the code DenisonKenyonConference. As with the Granville Inn, reserve by September 6, 2024, and cancel by September 20 for a refund. Our block will receive a discount between 10-20 percent, depending on how many rooms we book! Reserve by call 740-587-0001. (Note: Despite the contract Denison signed that suggests otherwise, the best (and apparently only) way to reserve a room is by calling 740-587-0001. The discount code is still DenisonKenyonConference. They are giving new meaning to the word "historic!")
If historic inns aren’t your thing, or if you will have a car available to you, other area accommodations include:
The Cherry Valley Hotel, about 10 minutes away: https://www.cherryvalleyhotel.com/
Other area accommodations: https://denison.edu/map/accommodations
If you prefer to stay in Gambier the Kenyon Inn is within walking distance of all the Monday events. We do not have rooms reserved but the visiting Kenyon rate is currently $190 so you can mention that you are visiting Kenyon College.
By air: John Glenn International Airport is the closest to the colleges. This is about a 30 drive from the airport to the Granville Inn. Here is a link to the TSA lines at the Columbus Airport. https://flycolumbus.com/passengers/security/
If you are renting a car there is a shuttle to the central car rental location so please add time for returning the rental and getting to the terminal. For those wondering about getting from CMH (Columbus/John Glenn International Airport) to Granville without renting a car, the usual suspects of taxi, Uber, or Lyft are available, with fares averaging about $80. If you like to arrange your rides ahead of time, Granville Concierge is another option: https://granvilleconcierge.com/transportation-services/
A reminder - if you want to share a ride from the airport, share your info on the RideShare sheet! Find it at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1m_GbioZz1_WG75LhVPHyuxaY5PSuiF_IB_Y3ajRiHtY/edit?usp=sharing
The last session ends around noon on Tuesday so please schedule your return flights after 2:00 pm. This is just a courtesy for the folks working on the Tuesday morning sessions!
