Academic Library DEIA Assessment: Progress Over Perfection
The decision to engage in a whole-library diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) assessment is not one that should be taken lightly. The effort level needed to fully engage in the process can be daunting, though taking advantage of available assessment instruments and working collaboratively with others can ease the way. In this keynote, Dr. Kawanna Bright will discuss her perspective on the Oberlin Group’s DEIA assessment project, sharing insights from preparation through data analysis. Dr. Bright will focus on the lessons she learned and shared with the participating libraries from the first round of assessments, and provide key takeaways for the libraries planning to engage in the next wave of the process. Dr. Bright’s keynote will be accompanied by a panel of representatives from libraries who’ve completed their audit process and will be able to share their experiences and their next steps.
Peer panel with Group Members currently working with the tool in Chalmers 320. This session will include a Zoom meeting open to all Oberlin Group Library staff members. Join Zoom Meeting https://kenyon-edu.zoom.us/j/86374579061?pwd=DY1bamtN7NLOSHSwbPwGvgHgkRsE6U.1
