Meet our Physical Education Teachers:



Welcome to Bacich PE 

Mrs. Braff, Mrs. Perez and Mr. Schafer are here to help each student athlete develop their physical abilities in accordance with the California Physical Education Standards.

August: get to know each other, cooperation skills,  the rules for the ever-popular recess games Gaga, 4-Square, 2-Touch, and 4- Corners

September and October: learn about our bodies and taking care of them. TK - 1st grade build up stamina to run the mile; 2nd-4th grades run the mile. Inside the community center, all grades do the tumbling unit.  Outside students learn basic football skills, practice hand-eye coordination with a partner and scoops, and raise their heart rate with aerobic activities.  All students practice their underhand toss. 

November: 1st through 4th grades practice all types of skills with jump ropes. We use short ropes, long ropes and stretchy ropes. Our TK and Kindergarteners work on their  ball skills and swinging the hula hoop.

December:  We play hockey and learn folk dancing.

January: We continue to dance, learning the Filipino traditional dance/game- Tinikling Sticks and  it's also  basketball season.

February: We bump and set balloons, beach balls and bouncy balls in our volleyball unit. Then we shuffle right into square dancing, and run the mile. 

Rainy winters do not slow us down: check out rainy day classroom tennis!

March: parachute for some great cooperation and teamwork exercises. The second tumbling/gymnastics unit. And racquet skills. 

April: Outside it's soccer season! and inside we keep up the fitness with step aerobics and fitness stations.

May:  Hawaiian/Tahitian Poi Balls, soccer, baseball and scooter board hockey!

June: track-n-field! 

Summer: Be AWESOME and stay active!


Students work out problems quickly and easily with a game of rock, paper, scissors. Disagreements about who is out or whether someone was tagged, etc. are solved in a snap!
