Special thanks go to all the helpful people I encountered who pointed the way to sculptures in their areas, supplied newspaper articles and personal knowledge, and especially to those who saved me some driving by sharing photographs.
Judy Dally from the Tuttle Museum in Defiance was a phenomenal help. She took photographs of multiple works in the city of Defiance and chased down information for me. She even contacted Defiance College to inquire about rights issues regarding photographing their campus works.
Jane Huffman from the Williams County Public Library gave me a list of potential sculptures in Bryan as well as several news articles for background information.
Angela Humphrey, Director of Montpelier Library, took photos of the two sculptures outside her library and supplied the necessary information.
Neil Toeppe, Mayor of Swanton and member of the Swanton Historical Society supplied a lead on a work in Wauseon and helped confirm there were no others known in Fulton County that weren't already in our database.
Jenelle McCarthy, Head of the Adult Department at Napoleon Library, tipped me off to sculptures in Pocket Park and supplied several news articles for area works, including murals and their Lady Justice sculpture that was removed for restoration for the summer.
Taylor Moyer, President of the Henry County Historical Society supplied a list of works in the Napoleon area including cemetery statues. He also noted that Henry County is only OH county without a GAR (Grand Army of the Republic--Civil War) statue.
Mitchell Magdich, Curator of Education at the Toledo Zoo & Aquarium who supplied information for multiple sculptures at the zoo.
For the many works at the Toledo Botanical Garden, I was able to pull from several sources. Some of the sculptures are maintained by the Toledo Arts Commission and their website provided background information. For the rest of the sculptures, I relied on past and previous employees and board members. Special thanks goes to Janice Lower who had been with the Garden since 1980 working on the grounds crew and later becoming Chief Horticulturist and after that a TBG Board member. Her enthusiasm for the Garden and my work to record the works, paired with her wealth of knowledge, helped to fill in many gaps. I also discovered that she played a pivotal role in securing two of my favorite pieces! Likewise, Karen Pugh, past president of the Board and once an interim director during the 1990's and early 2000's, supplied background information on some works and the involvement of a former employee, Richard Boers, who had secured some of the pieces in the Garden. Jonathon Milbrodt, current Lead Horticulturist, pulled information from their records and gave me some news clippings. Lastly, I had a lovely phone conversation with Tomás Herrera-Mishler, former director in 2000, who had secured the European garden sculptures through a family donation.
Andi Erbskorn from Heritage Sylvania who gave me some leads for Sylvania and with whom I can hopefully get future information from when I get to recording those items.
