This policy contains guidelines for the administration of the Max Parker Naval Service Collection. The policy covers the collection’s domain, the role and membership of the Collection Development Committee (CDC), and the collection's overall scope. These are meant to clarify, and ensure fidelity to, the collection's focus and goals.
The Max Parker Naval Service Collection documents Max Howarth Parker’s service in the United States Navy around the end of World War II. Mr. Parker served as an electronics technician at Treasure Island Naval Base in San Francisco, California from 1945 to 1946. Collection items may include letters, personal items, and any other objects that document or have played a role in Parker’s years in Naval training and service.
Selection Personnel: The CDC is responsible for the assessment and selection of items for possible addition to the Collection. Membership in the Collection Development Committee is limited to:
Non-family appointees should have demonstrable knowledge in the areas of artifact preservation, history, or other specializations deemed relevant to the domain and scope of the Collection.
To be considered for addition, a proposed item must be deemed by the CDC to meet all of the following criteria:
