American Government

This page is dedicated to my regular American Government classes. This is a junior level class, offered after American History.

Course Description: This course is devoted to the study of the federal government and the United States Constitution along with the Missouri state and local governments. Other relevant subjects include economics, Missouri history, and current events. Students will be required to use various forms of technology and develop literacy that incorporates research and interpretation of documents, visuals, and oral recordings.


Grading will be as follows:

    • ~ Exams, Quizzes, & Projects→ 65%
    • ~ Homework →35%

Semester Grades:

    • Comprehensive Semester 1 Exam→ 10% of grade
    • End of Course Exam→10% of 2nd Semester Grade



Expectations: Students are expected to behave in a mature and orderly fashion. They should be in their desks when the tardy bell rings without being asked to by the teacher. Students should be ready to work immediately! This includes having their Chromebook (charged, on and open), a pen/pencil & paper! Each student is expected to take responsibility for their own actions. No student has the right to interfere with the learning and well-being of others. Responsibility and courtesy towards others is required at all times. If respect is not given, consequences will follow.

Note: ALL students are required to pass the U.S. Constitution and Missouri Constitution exams to graduate per state law. For the purposes of these exams, 70% is considered passing and will be given in the Spring Semester. Students will be required to take each exam until they make the required grade. However, the students’ first test score will be recorded for grading purposes.
