BATTLE OF THE BOOKS 

Battle of the Books is a reading program designed to improve reading comprehension and enthusiasm for reading using a fun and unique competition format. Participants are given a reading list of ten books and challenged to read as many books on the list as possible before the competition. Students will compete in teams to determine their knowledge and understanding of the books. This year’s books have been carefully selected to include a variety of genres, reading levels, and themes. This assortment of books provides a selection to appeal to reluctant as well as enthusiastic and mature readers. All Battle of the Books selections are available for checkout through the school library. The following titles have been selected for this year’s competition:

Practices will begin in December and will be held in the morning. In January, students will take a quiz to determine whether they wish to continue with the competition, and teams will be assigned accordingly. The top 12 students will compete in a district competition on February 21, 2026.
