Battle of the Books is for students in 3rd, 4th, & 5th grades.
What is it? Battle of the Books is a reading incentive program designed to improve reading comprehension and enthusiasm for reading using a fun and unique competition format. Participants are given a reading list of ten books and challenged to read as many books on the list as possible. At the Keller ISD District competition, students will compete in teams to determine their knowledge and understanding of the books.
How are the books selected? This year’s 10 books have been selected to include a variety of genres, reading levels, and themes. The books are current Texas Bluebonnet Award nominees, KISD Chuckwagon books and a past Bluebonnet list book. The books will appeal to reluctant as well as enthusiastic and mature readers.
Are the books available at BES? All Battle of the Books selections are available for check out through the school library, so there is no cost to participate. The following titles are selected for this year’s competition: (Copies are available for check out from the BES Library or electronically through Sora)
