Dear Bear Creek Intermediate Families,

Good morning,

We would like to share an important staff update with our Bear Creek Intermediate community. Ms. Vivianne Jones has accepted a new opportunity to work in the legal field. While we will miss Ms. Jones, we are grateful for the time she spent serving our students and school community. Please join us in wishing her every success in this next chapter.

We are also excited to welcome Ms. Wendy Rebecek to our Brave family as our new 6th-grade Social Studies teacher. Ms. Rebecek brings valuable experience and a genuine passion for working with students.

Ms. Rebecek shared the following introduction:

Hi everyone! I am so excited to join the Bear Creek family as a 6th-grade teacher! I have always loved working with students and feel incredibly fortunate to be back in the classroom.

I am a proud graduate of Texas A&M University and have spent much of my career working with children and adolescents. I previously taught 6th-grade Social Studies in Northwest ISD and have also had the opportunity to work with students in behavioral health settings.

When I’m not at school, I enjoy reading, going to live music events, and spending time with my daughter. I’m looking forward to getting to know my students, watching them grow throughout the year, and making lots of good memories together!

Ms. Rebecek’s first day was Monday, September 14. We are thrilled to have her experience, enthusiasm, and commitment to Social Studies joining our team.

5th Grade House Curriculum Night

On September 22nd starting at 5:30 PM, we invite our 5th grade parents to a night where you will get to hear from your student's core content teachers speak about curriculum, learn about the day to day expectations, and be able to see how the classroom is set up. Please note we will start promptly at 5:30 PM. This is not a come and go event. Doors (1 and 6) will lock at 5:40 PM.

6th Grade House Curriculum night

On September 17th starting at 5:30 PM, we invite our 6th grade parents to a night where you will get to hear from your student's core content teachers speak about curriculum, learn about the day to day expectations, and be able to see how the classroom is set up. You will also get a chance to listen to our CoCurr teachers speak about their curriculum and events that will be happening this year!

Please note we will start promptly at 5:30 PM. This is not a come and go event. Doors (1 and 9) will lock at 5:40 PM.

BCI Color Run is Almost Here!

Get ready to run, get colorful, and have some fun! BCI's annual Boosterthon Color Run is Friday, Sept. 25, and it's our biggest fundraiser of the year.

Fifth grade will hit the course at 1 p.m., followed by 6th grade at 2 p.m. Students should wear athletic shoes and clothes that can handle a lot of color. (A change of clothes is also highly recommended.)

This year's fundraising goal is $30,000, with funds supporting classroom grants, school events, and teacher and staff appreciation. Be sure to check out the Boosterthon information for details on how to support your student and help BCI meet our goal!

Please use the link below to pre-register in order to attend the Color Run as a spectator. Please note that you may only sign out your own student in advance. If you do not pre-register, you may still attend, however, you will need to check in at the front office as usual. The form closes at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 21.

MAP BOY Dates:

Students will be taking the MAP beginning of the year test. Please see below for the dates of these tests as well as a short video describing what the MAP test is.

Help Us Support Our Tribe

Join Keller High School Volleyball on Tuesday, Oct. 6, for a special night supporting Nina Alvarez and her family as the Heart of an Indian volleyball team takes on Boswell.

Doors open at 5 p.m., and elementary, intermediate, and middle school students get in FREE! Come cheer on the team and help support the Alvarez family throughout the evening. There will be concessions, a silent auction, and raffle prizes, and all proceeds benefit the Alvarez family.

And don't forget your "Heart of an Indian" fundraising T-shirt! Wear your Tribe pride to the game while supporting a great cause. T-shirt orders close tomorrow (Friday, Sept. 18), so be sure to order yours soon using this link.

KellerISD's Human Resources Department is excited to host a job fair specifically for current and anticipated paraprofessional openings. The job fair will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, from 5-7pm at the Education Center (Texas Rooms). We will set up immediately after the AP meeting. TRANSPORTATION - BUS BARN PROTOCOL

Parents,

If your student needs to ride a different bus home after school for any reason, please contact the Transportation Department (Bus Barn) first. Approval from the Bus Barn is required before a student may ride a bus other than their regularly assigned route.

Once approval has been granted, please call the BCI front office at 817-744-3650 and provide the following information:

Confirmation that you have spoken with the Bus Barn
The bus number your student has been approved to ride

The front office will then send a Student Message to your child with instructions on which bus to take home.

Please be aware that if the requested bus has reached capacity, the Bus Barn may not be able to approve the request.

To help ensure arrangements can be made smoothly, we recommend contacting the Bus Barn at the beginning of the school day rather than waiting until the afternoon.

Thank you for your cooperation and support in helping us maintain a safe and efficient dismissal process.

The BRAVES Farewell Tour - Lasting Legacy shirt

LUNCH DROP OFF REMINDERS

Why drop off lunch 10-15 mins before dismissed for lunch?

We can find student to let them know, especially if it is a surprise! That way, the student can enjoy his/her full lunch time.

Why do we ask parents if the student knows he/she is delivering lunch? Lunch time in the front office is a busy time of day. They do not want any student to miss out on the opportunity of a lunch being delivered to them. This question is asked so that our front office staff knows if they need to call the classroom to let your student know to swing by the office to pick up their lunch prior to getting down to the lunchroom.

Why do you need to sign in, even for lunch?

The answer to this is easy: safety.

Birthday Treat Reminders

Do NOT send food that contains or may contain peanuts or tree-nuts to be eaten as a snack in the classroom. Snacks that do not contain nuts as an ingredient but say they may have been processed in a facility that has peanuts/tree-nuts will still be allowed as a snack.
Birthday parties are a special time for children, and we want to celebrate your child. If you want to send something fun to celebrate, we are requesting that you send non-food items (bubbles, pencils, stickers, etc...). Please do not send a treat containing peanuts/tree-nuts. Any treat brought into the classroom to be consumed by other students MUST be store bought with the ingredient labels attached.

We have students/staff with different allergy needs - some very severe. A severe allergy is an allergy that may cause an anaphylactice reaction. A child with a serious food allergy can suffer a reaction merely by touching an allergy containing food.

FOR PARENTS

Parents can activate their accounts by:

Checking their personal email for an activation email from ParentSquare if they didn’t use it last year

By Visiting parentsquare.com/signin

They will use the same email address that they have on file with the district and will create a new password.

If a parent is unable to activate or register their account, it is possible that their phone number or email address is wrong in Aeries

If a parent says their phone number or email address is wrong in ParentSquare, it needs to be updated in Aeries by their front office staff. It will the sync to ParentSquare the next day.

If a parent finds information that is incorrect about their student in ParentSquare, they should contact their school’s front office. If it is incorrect in ParentSquare, it is also incorrect in Aeries.

Cell Phone Expectations

Our students have been GREAT with following our cell phone expectations this year! First - a cell phone is NOT a needed supply. :) By 7:45 AM, cell phones should be turned off and placed in the student's locker. If a student needs to use the phone, we have passes ready for students to come up to the office to use a campus phone. At the end of the day, students are able to access their cell phones when they are outside of the building. Please take note of the bell schedule. If you attended BCI last year, there are a couple of changes.

3rd period will be considered our HOMEROOM. During this 16 minute period, students will be receiving announcements, House activities, and team building.

6th period will be when lunch and recess take place. The 6th period teacher assignment will indicate when your student will have lunch. We will post this information soon.

Dismissal times have changed just a little. We still will do a stagger, however, we will be dismissing our BUS and WALKERS at 3:13 PM and our CAR RIDERS at 3:15 PM.

We encourage you to review the map for drop off and pick up expectations. Our focus is for safety for all. The easiest piece of advice is to follow our staff's instructions in our drop off/pick up lanes. If they need you to pull up, please follow this procedure; otherwise, you will be backing up the lanes for drop off which can cause students to be tardy or not being aware of safety concerns as they pertain to our crosswalks. Thank you in advance!

STUDENT ARRIVALS

Thank you for dropping off your student(s) in the student loop using Phillips Dr. between 7:15 am and 7:45 am at Door #6. If it is past 7:45 your student will need to be dropped off in the front office to obtain a tardy pass for class.

The front entrance, Door #1, of the school is reserved for carpooling students of 3 or more who attend BCI. We reserve the front entrance also for SPED buses and those who are on crutches or in wheelchairs.

As a reminder, for the safety of our students and staff, no cell phone use is allowed, the speed limit is 10 mph on school property, and 20 mph in School Zones.

STUDENT DISMISSAL

Student dismissal will have a staggered release. Our BUS riders and WALKERS will be leaving their classrooms at 3:13 PM. In years past, over 70% of our students rode a bus for our PM routes, so, as you can imagine, we will have a lot of students leaving at this time. There is not a designated area where walkers are picked up. Please communicate with your student where you will be each day so that your walker will know which crosswalk to use. We have crosswalks on the south side of campus that cross Bear Creek Parkway and another that crosses over Phillips Drive on the north side of campus. If you are parking your vehicle in our neighborhoods around us, please be respectful by not blocking driveways, walking on lawns, or speeding. We are surrounded by a sweet community and a beautiful park, so we want to make sure we take care of these areas.

At 3:15, our CAR RIDERS will be dismissed. We do not call out names. Students are instructed to watch as the cars pull up to see where they would need to use the crosswalk, if needed. We will have many adults out to help encourage our students to keep watching for you as you safely drive around the loop. Remember to stay off your cell phone in our loop for safety reasons.

For the first week or so of school, please continue to communicate with your student how they will be getting home. i.e. which bus to get on, which location to walk home, who will be picking them up etc. Some times students get very nervous during this new transition and we want to ensure you student gets home safely and on time.
