You have received the FIRST weekly communication from Bear Creek Intermediate School! Our job is to send you information so that you can read it to stay in the loop with events that are happening! Take a moment to review the following to understand how we will utilize this Google site:
You will receive communication from Bear Creek every Thursday.
We will keep new information on top so that you do not need to dig through information that has been communicated. (The reason we keep certain information each week is for new students/parents, reminders, and information that is used all year.)

As we prepare to welcome our students for the start of a new school year, we want to extend our heartfelt excitement and gratitude for the opportunity to share this special year with your family.
While this will be our school's final year before closing at the end of the school year, our commitment to providing an exceptional educational experience has never been stronger. We see this year not as an ending, but as a celebration of the relationships, traditions, and accomplishments that have made our school such a meaningful place for so many students and families.
Our dedicated staff are eager to create a year filled with learning, laughter, growth, and unforgettable memories. Every lesson, every event, every achievement, and every milestone will be an opportunity to celebrate our students and the incredible community we have built together.
Change can bring mixed emotions, but it also gives us the chance to appreciate the moments we share. We encourage our students to embrace new challenges, build lasting friendships, and make the most of every opportunity this year has to offer. All of our returning students should have received an email from Keller ISD containing the Info Snap needed to confirm registration for the 26 - 27 school year. In this email, your SNAPCODE was given. This email was sent to the guardian listed first in the parent portal.

If you ordered through PTA, your supply box will be given out at Meet the Teacher. Please give that box to your student's first period teacher.

Students will be receiving their technology the first few weeks of school. Please make sure that the technology is charged and ready to go each school day!
July 27th: Open House 1:00-3:00 (If you are interested in walking through Bear Creek to visit the campus, please feel free to! This event will be a self guided tour.)
July 29th & July 30th: New Braves on the Block 8:30-10:00 (Must of pre-registered to attend. See information below.)
August 6th Meet the teacher 5th grade - 5 PM - 6:30 PM
August 7th Meet the teacher 6th grade - 5 PM - 6:30 PM
August 12th First Day (official back to school)
August 15th Locker Decorating - 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM
August 20th Braves Connection from 8:15 AM to 9:15 AM - This event is geared more to new families to Bear Creek. We take time talking about BCI, changes that you may experience during 5th/6th grade years, and give time for questions!
Last school year, we communicated out to our elementary campuses as well as talked about this opportunity for new students to come meet new students as well as get to know a little more about Bear Creek Intermediate prior to the first day of school! Please see link for more information and to register.
WHAT? We get our OWN locker?
We know that there is a lot of excitement when it comes to receiving a locker as well as decorating a locker - some for the FIRST time. We also know that there is a lot of apprehension of remembering the locker number as well as the combination. Please set your child's mind at ease. Teachers have had years of experience of teaching this skill as well as give plenty of time for students to practice.
If you are planning on coming up to school on Saturday, August 15th, anywhere from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM for locker decoration, please follow the following expectations:
Locker dimensions: Length - 28 inches; Width - 9 3/4 inches
Refrain from adhering any decorations to the outside of the locker.
As long as items can be easily removed WITHOUT damaging the surface of the locker, it will be fine to use.
Remember that the purpose of the locker is for a safe place to store backpacks, books, etc... If the decor takes up too much space, it will defeat the main purpose of this space.
Talk through with your child how they will keep his/her locker number/combo with them throughout the day. So, he/she will have it memorized, however, having a plan for the first couple of weeks of where it could be stored may be a good idea.
Lockers will be given to students on the first day of school.
Do NOT send food that contains or may contain peanuts or tree-nuts to be eaten as a snack in the classroom. Snacks that do not contain nuts as an ingredient but say they may have been processed in a facility that has peanuts/tree-nuts will still be allowed as a snack.
Birthday parties are a special time for children, and we want to celebrate your child. If you want to send something fun to celebrate, we are requesting that you send non-food items (bubbles, pencils, stickers, etc...). Please do not send a treat containing peanuts/tree-nuts. Any treat brought into the classroom to be consumed by other students MUST be store bought with the ingredient labels attached.

We have students/staff with different allergy needs - some very severe. A severe allergy is an allergy that may cause an anaphylactice reaction. A child with a serious food allergy can suffer a reaction merely by touching an allergy containing food.
Please take note of the bell schedule. If you attended BCI last year, there are a couple of changes.
3rd period will be considered our HOMEROOM. During this 16 minute period, students will be receiving announcements, House activities, and team building.
6th period will be when lunch and recess take place. The 6th period teacher assignment will indicate when your student will have lunch. We will post this information soon.
Dismissal times have changed just a little. We still will do a stagger, however, we will be dismissing our BUS and WALKERS at 3:13 PM and our CAR RIDERS at 3:15 PM.
