The ELO process focuses student-centered programs on the basis of 4 main components: Reflection, Research, Product, and Presentation. The ELO's essential question establishes an overarching theme for student-driven learning.
ELOs require a higher level of independence, self-motivation, time-management skills, and commitment than some typical classes may!
ELOs can be group or individual. Group ELOs are pre-designed and offer more structure and oversight from the ELO Coordinators. This oversight includes tasks/assignments facilitated by the community partners and ELO Coordinators. Individual ELOs allow students to create unique programs to match their specific interests and passions.
Attendance is required at all designated experiential sessions for both individual and group ELOs. The "experience" is the real world connection to learning, and community partners volunteer their time and expertise to create meaningful student opportunities.
Periodically, special programs will be offered both in-school and off-campus. These stand-alone events can be tours, workshops, career fairs, career explorations, plays, etc. These are not for credit but offer enriching options for students to gain exposure to a variety of topics and activities.
