While the country is dealing with Coronavirus, it's time to start preparing for what might come next in terms of potential school closings that come with the expectation of some type of distance or remote learning. Hopefully this does not happen, but it is time to prepare just in case.
The purpose of this website is to highlight tools and lesson ideas for remote learning in anticipation and preparation of a potential school closure for COVID-19, however, it is important to understand that these same technology tools and pedagogical practices are excellent practices for face to face learning as well.
KRHS students are uniquely positioned for success with remote learning because most students have a district issued chromebook that goes to and from school each day. Some students have been using their own device as well. KRHS students have experience with doing "just in time" learning on Blizzard Bag Days so they are prepared for this type of learning. Please note that there are some high school students who do not have Internet access and this data should be collected so that we can determine equitable solutions.
For KRMS, a plan would need to be put in place to determine availability of devices in the home. KRMS students are in a great place to manage online learning because of their experience working remotely on Blizzard Bag Days. KRMS students have a device assigned to them. These devices can be sent home for use with remote learning if necessary.
For Elementary Schools, a plan would need to be put in place to determine availability of devices in the home and students may need assistance from an adult in the home to access/complete the lessons using technology.
