Audiobooks or read to your child. Hearing something read aloud helps build vocabulary.
Games: Scattergories, Boggle, Guess in 10, Scrabble, Zingo
Read words in real world situations: Signs, menus, brochures

What can I do to help my child become a stronger math student?
Count! Count forwards, count backwards, count up or back from a number other than 1, count by 2s, 3s, 5s, and 10s.
Do mental math activities: making change, adding cost for items, 10 more, 10 less, finding patterns
Number sense questions and comparing numbers: “Which has more? How can you tell?” or “Do I have more or less?”
Practice math facts: Addition/Subtraction facts to 20, multiplication
Piggy bank: saving coins, adding up savings, comparing values
Games: Dominoes, Yahtzee, Blokus, Even Stevens Odd
Play cards: 21,Race to 100, Place Value War, Gain and Loss
