Each of us is in charge of our choices, our actions, and our learning. We are also here to support one another. Here are some specific expectations:
Be RESPECTFUL of yourself, everyone else, and all property.
Be RESPONSIBLE for your actions, including the consequences of your actions. You are also responsible for being prepared for every class with your charged Chromebook, charger, binder, writing utensil, and independent reading book.
Be RESILIENT as a learner. Use your best effort and remember that mistakes help us change and grow!
This course aims to build confidence and further enhance students' love of reading and writing. Students will be exposed to diverse perspectives through a variety of genres including poetry, novels, and non fiction texts. The focus of writing will be on sentence structure, paragraph structure, poetic devices, and narrative techniques. Vocabulary study focuses on words in context. Foremost, your language arts teacher will strive to make learning these skills fun!
Units of Study: Poetry, Grammar & Usage, Elements of Literature, Narrative Writing, Vocabulary, Writing Process (Expository), and Nonfiction Text
