Residency Outcomes
By the end of the 14-week residency, the doctoral candidate will educate primary care providers on OTs distinct value to their pediatric primary care team through a virtual educational resource.
By the end of the 14-week residency, the doctoral candidate will create and distribute an educational video to parents on the scope of OT services available for their children.
By the end of the 14-week residency, the doctoral candidate will create an action guide for OT practitioners, educators, and students to promote integration into a pediatric primary care setting.
By the end of the 14-week residency, the doctoral candidate will identify 2-3 peer reviewed journals for potential publication.
Student Learning Objectives (SLOs)
Throughout the 14-week residency, the doctoral candidate will analyze pediatric primary care practice data including referral rates to OT, assessment protocols, ICD-10 codes, and funding mechanisms.
Throughout the 14-week residency, the doctoral candidate will design an educational presentation to present to PCPs that is 1) informed by best evidence and 2) incorporates pediatric primary care practice data.
Throughout the 14-week residency, the doctoral candidate will apply Adult Learning Theory (Knowles) to the delivery of education given to PCPs and parents on OT’s role in primary care.
Project Goals
PCPs will report an increase in familiarity of OTs domain of practice.
PCPs will be able to identify at least 2 examples of how an OT can contribute to their pediatric primary care team
Parents will report an increase in their understanding of the scope of OT services available for their children.
