ART HISTORY STUDENTS

at Kean University

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

This exhibition grew out of an Art History course in Ancient Greek and Roman Art taught at Kean University by Dr. Jacquelyn Tuerk-Stonberg. Students researched and wrote essays about women in ancient Greek art and they created original artworks exploring real or mythological Greek women: their representation, identity, culture, and history.

In collaboration with AthensArt and Art 4 Seasons in Athens Greece, this body of artwork extended to included professional artists in Greece and across Europe. This website is a pre-view of that larger 3-D exhibition from AthensArt and the Athens Arts Festival re-scheduled for Summer 2021.

The initial purpose of this project was to support student research with primary sources, to promote awareness of social experiences that are distinct to women’s culture, and to encourage international and multicultural understanding.
