To the left is a sample lesson plan that I created for my NJGPA : Preparing for the Future course. Following my university's lesson plan format, I was able to successfully plan and execute an 84 minute lesson where my students were re-introduced to storytelling elements in a fun and engaging way!
The Google Slides presentation attached here is the one used in the above lesson. As these slides were a re-introduction of elements the students should already be familiar with as seniors in high school, many of the slides have topic sentences and places for the students to discuss with me what they remember as we move through the lesson. It is designed to be engaging and guide the students towards remembering the elements in a story!
To the right is a sample unit assessment I created. This unit assessment centered around cognitive flexibility, one of the units covered in my Skill Builder course. This course is designed to assist students, who must be recommended by the guidance department, in developing and strengthening their executive functioning. For this unit assessment, there are varied kinds of assessment questions based on the skill being assessed.
When I noticed a population of my students in my ICS/ICR classroom were struggling to develop a theme for The Crucible by Arthur Miller, I created this supplemental tool to help the students understand the process to finding a theme! When I shared this resource with my students, which was accompanied by a developing theme mini lesson, many of them found success in crafting a theme independently! The general education teacher used this resource in some of his other sophomore English sections to help other students who were struggling with the concept.
