Congratulations to the Reedley High School Sports Medicine Team for their 7th place finish in the 2013 AACI National High School Sports Medicine Competition held on May 20, 2013! Special recognition goes out to Maria McGahan for her 7th place overall and AACI All-American designation. Team members included: Monica Garcia, Breann Jacobson, Ben Bowden, Baylee Mayfield, Miranda Murillo, Mikaela Mejia, Maria McGahan, and Treysi Vargas. Also pictured is Stefani Santos, Head Athletic Trainer (far right).
Our Pirates earned their way into this competition by competing against 570 other students from 38 different schools from California, Kansas, and Texas in the 12th Annual St. Francis Sports Medicine Competition on April 20. The competition consisted of practical and academic evaluations that tested the skills related to anatomy, injury evaluation, and injury recognition and treatment.
In 2012, the RHS team placed 1st in the Sports Medicine Career Skill Challenge (Fresno City College), 3rd place in the St. Francis Sports Medicine Competition, and 3rd place in the AACI National High School Sports Medicine Competition in the Jaybird-Mais, Medium Schools Division with three students (Stephanie Okamura, Noe Salinas, and Richard Lindsey) earning All-American honors.
aaarrrggghhh ... WAY TO GO PIRATES!
