Life in L.A.

Hi! I'm Mrs. Savich

Do you like a challenge? Then you're in for a good year. The more you are willing to give to your education, the more interesting and fun the year will be for you.

Come on time, take some risks, prepare for class every day, and I guarantee you'll find L.A. to be a class where you can grow as a writer, reader and thinker this year.

If you want to learn a little more about me, check out my Picture Inferences Page.

I'm glad you're in my class!

Summer Reading!

Here's a link to the

2022-23 KCSD96 Middle School Summer Reading Assignment

which is due on Monday, August 22!

Read at LEAST one book this summer, although kids who get the best grades in school tend to be big readers. If you only do the minimum amount of reading that's required, chances are pretty good that you COULD be getting better scores on tests and on targets if you were reading more books and articles.

Supplies you'll need for L.A.

  • Your school iPad, charged every day.

  • Your school Logitech crayon, charged every day.

  • An independent reading book of your choice - which can be a paper novel or an ebook (see online resources here). We'll get one during Week 2 at the Learning Center if you aren't already reading one from home.

  • A one-subject spiral notebook just for L.A. class notes. You may not share a notebook with Social Studies. You'll need to leave this LA notebook in my room.

  • A steady supply of pencils (you'll need one every day! Have plenty with you in a pencil case, please). Tuck one pencil into the spiral of your notebook right away.

  • Earbuds (rarely needed, but you should have some cheap ones with you for when we need them). You'll need them within a week of school starting, so try to pick some up at the dollar store if you don't have any at home.
