STUDENT LIFE

There’s no cancelling KCS spirit. Clubs, our House System, community challenges, assemblies, service learning, student leadership, Wake Up With the Arts, and more are hallmarks and longstanding traditions of KCS. When schools closed this past spring, our students and faculty figured out how to make these special experiences happen. We will bring that same creativity and determination to KCS in 2021-2022.

  • Clubs will be run virtually by external providers. KCS faculty will assist students in the classroom during the club period. Club offerings will vary depending on the grade. Grades 1-4 will start the year with one choice, while Grades 5-8 will start with at least three choices. Students in SK will have a club opportunity in the spring term that will be scheduled during a PBL/FlexTime period.

Clubs will take place virtually throughout the school year during the following days/times:

  • Grades 1 - 4: Tuesdays 2:30 - 3:30 p.m.

  • Grades 7 - 8: Wednesdays 2:30 - 3:20 p.m.

  • Grades 5 - 6: Thursdays 2:30 - 3:20 p.m.

  • Virtual Assemblies take place on Friday mornings at 8:45 a.m. Assembly included opportunities for students to make announcements, share school spirit, and showcase learning for their schoolmates.

  • In partnership with the Conference of Independent Schools Athletics Association (CISAA) and the Private Schools Athletics Association (PSAA), inter-school athletic opportunities are being explored by Ms. Sherri Field, our Director of Athletics. While our usual league opportunities are currently on pause, we will make all suitable opportunities available to the extent we can.

  • Service learning and student leadership continues to be embedded in our curriculum, with additional opportunities available through Clubs and independent student initiatives. Making a difference never needs an invitation and leadership doesn’t need a title. We invite all students with ideas to approach their teacher or email our Citizenship Coordinator, Ms. Shelley Gaudet.
