Career Development & Work Based Learning

Career Development supports are provided to students through CTE.  Work-based learning (WBL) is incorporated as an educational strategy that provides students with real-life work experiences where they can apply academic and technical skills and develop employability skills.

Work-based learning allows students to explore life outside the classroom through job shadowing, internships, apprenticeships, guest speakers, career days and other events.  These opportunities provide students with first-hand, relevant experiences and bring learning to life! Sometimes it is just as important to figure out what you DON'T want to do, as what you want to do.  Experience CTE!

Career Exploration Platform: Major Clarity

All KCS students have a Major Clarity account to assist with career exploration and planning. Each year, students will complete a personality assessment on the platform to update fit scores and careers of best fit.  Students will also review the Academic & Career Plan annually to communicate goals and plans for the future. The Major Clarity platform will also be utilized in other capacities throughout the year and is available to students after graduation for career development needs.

Career Discovery Platform: Edge Factor

All KCS students have access to an Edge Factor account to support their career discovery and exploration. Students can use the platform anytime to explore their career interests. Throughout the year, Edge Factor will also be integrated into classroom activities and other programs to support career development needs.
