Have you ever wondered if there were other planets that we could live on besides earth? Well we have, and scientists have too. When we talk about this most people have in mind Mars, Saturn and maybe even Venus. But scientists have read about some planets that are much farther than our own solar system. In the near future we will be able to live on other planets because of amazing planets in our solar system that are really good for living, and incredible planets outside of our solar system that are just like earth.
Our solar system has 8 planets that count as options for us to move in our lifetime. The main one right now is Mars, but even though it is our neighbor planet it isn’t as easy to move to it. Well first of all we need people willing to give their time, dedication and a lot of money $. Luckily for us there are already some companies willing to do this. NASA Has a machine to change carbon dioxide into fuel for rockets. That is really helpful since Mars has 95% carbon dioxide so it can make a lot of fuel. NASA is also designing the homes to live in mars. Some houses are designed to protect us from Mars’ coldness. On the other hand SpaceX is taking action sooner, they want to get to Mars by 2025 and have at least 100 people in 2050. The CEO of this company Elon Musk is willing to give a lot of his money to make this dream come true. Since it takes 150-300 days to get to Mars Elon Musk is working on some good rockets to get about 100 people at the time to Mars in some future. Even though Mars is our main option, scientists found something that means there may be life in Venus, sadly they found out it wasn’t true. But maybe that is a sign and it means that Venus can be another planet for us to move on. I am sure that after a little research scientists might have an answer for us.
Astronomers( the scientists of space) are already researching 24 planets that are outside of our solar system and are incredibly alike to Earth, the question is: Is it possible for us to move there? Well why don’t you answer this for yourself... Proxima Centauri b is one of these planets. This planet is the closest planet to Earth of the 24 chosen by the scientists and it is in the solar system Alpha Centauri. You may be wondering if we are able to live on this planet. Well that answer is unclear since it is about 37 trillion miles away! But the planet itself is a really rocky planet with a little chance to have an atmosphere and maybe even some water. This planet is in the habitable zone of its star Proxima Centauri and it orbits it in 11 days. This planet is 1 earth plus ⅕ of the earth that means that it has a little more gravity. Trappist 1e is also one of the planets chosen by scientists. Trappist 1 is located in the constellation Aquarius and it’s about 40 light years away from Earth, which is about 236 trillion miles. Yep I know, It’s a lot. Trappist one is located in the habitable zone, where liquid water is most likely to be found. This planet is slightly larger in size but less massive than Earth, and completes an orbit every nine days. Trappist 1 is 3 times lighter than the Earth. It's temperature is similar to ours but the gravity is half as weak, but we’ll still feel comfortable there. It may look hard to get to those planets but, I am sure with the technology and the knowledge that we will have in about 50-100 years it will be possible.
In conclusion we will be able to live on other planets beyond our home planets. It just a matter of time and fantastic commitment for us sore through the galaxy with some amazing technologies. Who knows maybe you can be one of those remarkable people that can be on that amazing ride or even create it.
