Every year, the Interclass Competition (ICC) lights up the stage, giving students a chance to shine. Each grade takes on a different challenge, from singing to persuasive speeches. “It’s always a dream stage, so our team worked hard to earn our entrance ticket by winning the in-class competition,” shared a Grade 5 student.
Behind students’ efforts, the ID Office plans every detail of the event. From setting up topics and arranging judges to managing lighting, audio control, and score updates, many teachers and staff work together efficiently. “We started preparing in September, even though the event begins in January, to ensure a high-quality experience for students,” said Mr. Payne, the ID coordinator. We appreciate the school for hosting the ICC for Grades 1 through 6, helping students build skills consistently and stay motivated to step onto the stage.

Students at Kang Chiao have been taking action to promote gender equality for years. “Stereotypes affect people’s lives in ways that matter,” said Jayden Liu, a fifth grader. This belief gives students a strong sense of purpose to speak up for those affected by gender bias.
This year, Grade 5 students took another step by sharing ideas through storytelling podcasts. Starting with only ideas, they explored common gender stereotypes and turned them into meaningful stories. They planned story arcs and revised their writing to show how stereotypes limit opportunities. With guidance from teachers, the stories became motivational podcasts filled with expressive voices, music, and sound effects. “Ideas can spread more widely through students’ voices,” shared a Grade 5 teacher. We hope you enjoy these original stories and feel inspired to help create a world free from gender stereotypes.
