The final Grade 1 project for this semester is Sound Energy. Did you know that you can make a simple musical instrument at home to learn more about how sound works?
You will need: a hardcover book, a rubber band and 2 pencils.
Follow these steps:
How does it work?
When you pluck the rubber band, it vibrates. The vibrating rubber band produces sound waves. The sound waves travel through the air to your ears. What you hear is a musical note. Now if you press your finger down halfway along the rubber band and pluck the rubber band to the side of your finger, you hear a different note. When the rubber band is shorter, the sound waves vibrate faster, and the note is higher!
Take a photo or short video of you plucking the rubber band and upload it to the following link. Then come to the ID office on the 6th floor to collect a small reward!
