The final Grade 4 project for this semester is High Flying Rocket. In this project, students will use a mixture of air and water to make their rockets fly high.
How do air and water make a rocket fly?
Have you ever noticed what happens if you let the air out of a balloon? The air goes one way and the balloon goes in the opposite direction! When you pump air into the body of the rocket, the air pushes down on the water inside and the water wants to escape. The water finally escapes by pushing out the cork that is in the neck of the bottle. The water rushes down and out and the rocket flies up!
Try it yourself!
Which of the three rockets below do you think will fly the highest?
Bring your answer with a reason to your KCFS teacher to collect a small prize from the ID office on the 6th floor!
