Our project is about preserving traditional agriculture, dried persimmon production methods, and understanding Wei Wei Jia Persimmon Tourist Farm. The main reason that we wanted to start this project is because of how fascinating it is that Hsinchu, a smart city, still has farms that are slowly but surely developing at their own pace during this technological era. The farm not only sells their own crop goods, but also offers DIY classes, such as persimmon dying. Surprisingly, the farm has even developed its own skin care products, showing how a persimmon farm can diversify their own products. Not to mention, the farm is located at Xinpu, Hsinchu, which is a rural town and can be inconvenient to reach. However, despite the inconvenience, tourists from around the country and even visitors from Korea and Japan still pay a visit to Wei Wei Jia Persimmon Tourist Farm. We were amazed by these discovery. We learned that persimmons are not just a type of fruit, but also a part of culture and a way of life in Xinpu. We also interviewed the Wei Wei Jia Persimmon Tourist Farm's owner and achieved an understanding of the farm's business situation against modern technology. We are excited to present to you what we have learned for the past few months.
