We are learning about different indigenous cultures around the world, and someone asked "What does indigenous mean?" We then explored what it means. Here is an activity to test your knowledge about indigenous animals and people around the world.
We have been learning about what makes a culture unique. We have explored the concepts of: society, citizenship, what is a passport and why we need one, community, elections, voting, leadership.
We have linked our new knowledge with our kura and classroom, and how we can be a good citizen.
Week 10: First watch how we take notes.
This term our focus is on the Marae. In particular, learning about the parts of the marae and the reasons for parts of the wharenui, their job and importance. We will also be comparing the experience of being manuhiri to a marae and being the tangata whenua. Then we will move into learning about the changes from Summer to Autumn.
