Kia ora whanau,
On this page you will find access to information that will help you support your child's learning at home. Should your child require an extended period of time away from school for any reason, there is plenty of mahi on this site to keep them engaged in learning.
Remember that this should not be a stressful time. Take regular breaks, do one task at a time, give them a space without distractions to do their mahi (no tv etc), set up a regular time to start so they get into a routine (if you finish early you have the rest of the day to play). Do what works for your whanau.
Try to make sure reading is happening every day; read them a chapter of a Duffy Book daily, have them read something to you, look on https://www.getepic.com/ for great online reading material. The class code to get into their own accounts is gak0865 or check out the levelled reading books below.
If you are engaging in learning at home and require help at all, please do not hesitate to contact me on my messenger or email danac@kawakawaprimary.co.nz

Here is a link to the ministry page where all the Ready to Read Phonics Plus books for BSLA can be found in digital form. Just scroll down to find the Kākano, Tupu, Māhuri or Rākau books that your child can read. If they are not sure where they are at, please ask me so I can point you in the right direction.
Here you will find online books in the Colour Wheel series. We don't use these books in class, but if you would like to read them for something different, I can let you know what level to try. Click on the link 'Click here' on each colour to access a folder of stories at that level.
Here are some links and resources to help your child learn their basic facts in a fun way. If you have a devise at home, you can try some of the websites on the right. You may need to help your child sign up for some of them.
Thanks Whaea Skye for this amazing resource :)
