Please, if you can find time to count or play games at home or in the car, they are great for building number knowledge. Even creating number word problems, e.g. I have 3 apples and 2 bananas. How many pieces of fruit do I have?
There is a lot of learning in this area.
Counting, recognising names and numerals, knowing 13-19 are '-teen' numbers, sequencing numbers from 0-20, understanding smallest to largest, before and after, ordinal numbers (1st, 2nd, 3rd), number bonds to 5 and 10, skip counting in 2s and 10s, adding and subtracting, looking for patterns, place value of tens and ones.
Learning:
Days of the week - day before and after
Understanding length the distance between two points.
That weight is how heavy something feels.
Knowing how much a container can hold is capacity.
Learning:
Describing the attributes of 2D shapes - size, colour, sides, angles and corners.
Understanding they have the same name even when the size and colour change.
Using spatial language - near, far, next to, beside, over, down etc.
Learning:
Collecting data to investigate a question
Record data using tally charts
Create picture graphs to represent data
Understand the pictures represent values and can be counted
Read the graphs looking at the frequency of each category
Answer questions about the picture graphs
