Welcome to Room 12's Class Site!
We are a New Entrant/ Year 1 class at Kawakawa Primary School. Our class continues to grow throughout the year as tamariki turn 5 and begin their school journey. We will be curious and creative learners, who experience a wide range of numeracy, literacy, physical education, arts, te reo Maori and inquiry learning opportunities. We are excited to have you on this adventure with us!

In Room 12 we have a number of adults that help us with our learning. Whaea Ineka teaches us from Monday to Thursday. Whaea Sharon teaches us on Fridays. Matua Iraia is our teacher aide who supports us for the first part of the day and Whaea Lisa helps us in the afternoons. Whaea Monika comes in on Tuesdays and teaches us our Cybersmart learning.
At Kawakawa Primary School we use our Mana Values. We have been thinking hard about what these mean and what they look like. We have used the idea of bucket filling to help us understand our Mana Values. We had lots of ideas and have made them into manageable goals to help us remember and focus on them.

About me - Whaea Ineka
Kia ora! Ko Ineka toku ingoa.
I am happy to be returning to Kawakawa Primary School. It has been awhile but I am super excited to have the opportunity to teach in Room 12 with our wonderful Y0/1 tamariki. I have previously taught a range of year levels and within a number of Northland schools, most recently Opua School.
Originally from Whangarei, I have now been living in the Bay of Islands for about 26 years; initially coming north to teach at Kawakawa Primary School in 1999. I now have a husband, two teenage children, 2 dogs, a cat, some sheep and a few chickens. I enjoy being at the beach, walking in the bush, pottering at home and spending time with my children with their endeavours.
I believe in reaching for the stars with high expectations, challenging ourselves to give things a go and showing manakiitanga.
I'm looking forward to seeing what we can achieve in Ruma tekau ma rua for the rest of 2026!
