Mr. Nathanial McReynolds, who goes by Mr. Mac, serves as Head Band Director at West Memorial Junior High in Katy ISD. With over a decade of experience in music education, he is committed to building a band program rooted in musical excellence, student leadership, and a strong sense of community.
Mr. Mac holds a Master of Music with a concentration in Music Education from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. His graduate thesis, “Representation of a Trumpet Course of Study for a Four-Year Undergraduate University Trumpet Studio,” reflects his dedication to brass pedagogy and comprehensive music instruction. He earned his Bachelor of Music Education from Northwestern State University in 2012.
While at Northwestern State University, Mr. Mac served as a Graduate Assistant in the Trumpet Studio and Music Education Department. He also served as a Distance Coach for the university’s Cross Country and Track & Field programs and competed as a collegiate runner. His background in athletics continues to influence his philosophy of discipline, perseverance, and goal-setting in both music and leadership.
Throughout his career, Mr. Mac has served in several leadership roles, including Director of Bands at Davila Middle School (Bryan ISD) and George West Junior High (George West ISD), as well as Associate Director of Bands and Brass Specialist in Jarrell ISD. He most recently served as Assistant Band Director at Leaman Junior High in Lamar CISD before joining Katy ISD.
In addition to his work in public education, Mr. Mac maintains active involvement as a professional performer and continues to pursue performance and collaborative opportunities. His trumpet studies include work with James Austin (University of Houston), Galindo Rodriguez (Northwestern State University), and Dr. Craig Garrett (Blinn College).
Mr. Mac is passionate about developing students not only as skilled musicians, but as confident, disciplined, and responsible young leaders. He believes participation in band fosters lifelong skills in teamwork, perseverance, and excellence.
Mr. Tom Fesler serves as Band Director at West Memorial Junior High and is a veteran music educator committed to building band programs rooted in musical excellence, student achievement, and a culture of high standards and pride.
Mr. Fesler earned his Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. A native of the North Fort Worth area, he is a graduate of Haltom High School, where his passion for music education first began.
Prior to joining West Memorial Junior High, Mr. Fesler served on the band staffs at Cinco Ranch High School, Irving Nimitz High School, Aledo High School, and Castleberry High School. His marching bands have competed at the UIL Texas State Marching Contest, earning state appearances in 2000 with Aledo High School and in 2004 with Cinco Ranch High School.
Under his direction, drumlines have earned Outstanding Drumline honors at numerous competitions over the years, including Sam Houston State University, Blinn College, Lamar Consolidated Invitational, Central Texas Marching Contest, Galena Park Invitational, Alief ISD Invitational, and the Foster High School Drumline Competition. His percussion programs are recognized for precision, musicality, and competitive excellence.
Mr. Fesler is passionate about developing students not only as accomplished musicians, but as disciplined, responsible, and confident young leaders. He believes participation in band fosters lifelong skills in teamwork, perseverance, and commitment to excellence.
