The state of Texas has made FAFSA completion a graduation requirement for students graduating Spring 2022 on. 

Why is it a graduation requirement? 

To complete the requirement:

Step 1:  Complete ONE of the options below

• Complete FAFSA, 

  • Eligibility for Non US Citizens 

  • UT AUSTIN FINANCIAL AID RESOURCES - EVERYONE CAN USE! 

• Complete TASFA

  • APPLY HERE! 

  • I asked SHSU about TASFA, with what is going on in the world.. As we near October, I hope to see more clear verbiage from the universities on how they will be moving forward. 

    • Question: For TASFA students going forward, will all non citizens who have lived in Texas for 36 consecutive months still qualify for TASFA or only those who are certified DACA students? 

    • Answer: Students that are DACA recipients are the only ones that can compete the TASFA application.
