Note: PSI issues licenses as "active" or "inactive" based on the applicant's choice. If the applicant wishes to receive an active license, they must also bring a completed "Sponsoring Broker Statement." Please refer to page 22 of the Candidate Handbook for more information. An inactive license will not require this form.
The cost of the examination is $119.00 and the license application fee is $170.00, payable by credit card OR cashier's check or money order made payable to the Georgia Real Estate Commission (GREC)
GREC also has a new online service for managing real estate licenses. Learn how to set up account access. If you need help with the new service, please contact grecmail@grec.state.ga.us.
IMPORTANT: The Georgia Real Estate Commission requires that we (Kaplan) report your licensing completion. In order for this to take place, we must have your SSN, Date of Birth, and County of Residence on file or it will cause a delay in processing. You will be unable to register for your PSI/AMP exam until this information is collected and reported. Please add your reporting information to your account immediately, if you have not done so already.
To review the Commission’s Preliminary Decision option for persons with criminal convictions or if you have additional questions regarding licensure, we recommend that you reach out to the Georgia Real Estate Commission.
The Georgia Salesperson licensing exam is a 152-question, multiple-choice exam. You need a 72% or higher to pass.
The exam is timed and you will have 4 hours to complete it.
The exam is administered on a computer so you will learn your results immediately.
The exam is qualifying in nature so examinees who pass will not be informed of their final score.
If an examinee does not pass the state exam, they will be notified of the actual score including the percentage of questions answered correctly in each subject area. An examinee is able to re-apply to take the examination again if they were unsuccessful.
In Georgia, a Salesperson is authorized to conduct real estate transactions under the supervision of a licensed broker. The Georgia Salesperson License can be likened to an introductory level for a real estate agent, working under the guidance of their broker.
Upon advancing from a salesperson to a broker license, individuals gain the option to establish their own business, whether as a limited liability company (LLC), sole proprietorship, or corporation. Alternatively, they can choose to remain affiliated with another certified broker. The transition to a broker role represents a step up from the salesperson position, providing additional opportunities to operate and manage one's own real estate business.

Within 60 days before submitting your license application, each applicant must independently procure a certified criminal history report from the Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, at their own cost. A GCIC report can be obtained from most sheriff’s offices or police stations in Georgia. If the report reveals any criminal convictions or sanctions imposed by a licensing or regulatory agency, the Commission will initiate an investigation to determine whether to grant or deny the license.
