Types of Writing
Poetry
A type of literature, or artistic writing, that attempts to stir a reader's imagination or emotions
Short Story
A story with a fully developed theme but significantly shorter and less elaborate than a novel
Play
A play is composed of dialogue between various characters and divided into acts and scenes to increase the dramatic effect
Narrative
A story that you write or tell to someone, usually in great detail
Fiction
Fiction is any story made up by an author. It is a creation of the author's imagination. It is not based strictly on history or facts.
Autobiography
An account of a persons life written by that person
Non-Fiction
Non-fiction texts are based on facts. We encounter them much more frequently than we may realise – they're really just any text that isn't fictional or made-up.
