English
“Wiggly Fingers at Work!”
EY1 learner explored straight line formations through a hands-on sand tracing activity. Working on their own, the children used their fingers to trace straight lines in trays filled with sand. This sensory-rich experience supported the development of fine motor skills, finger strength, and hand-eye coordination—all essential for early writing. The children enjoyed the independence and the focus that the activity encouraged, making it a joyful and meaningful step in their pre-writing journey!
Math
Starting Strong with Number 1!
While exploring early number concepts, our learners had a hands-on introduction to the number 1. Each child received a paper with a standing line representing the number 1. They began by tracing the number using their finger, helping them understand its through movement and touch. To connect quantity with the numeral, they then used paint to make one dot—reinforcing the value of the number 1 in a fun and meaningful way. This activity supported both number recognition and early counting skills in an engaging, sensory-rich environment.
Theme
Mirror mirror on the wall, can u help me find them all?
In the theme session, learners had an exciting and interactive exploration of their facial features! To kick off the activity, the teacher set up a special station with mirror, giving each learner the chance to observe their own face up close. One by one, the learners took turns looking into the mirror and identifying different facial features. They pointed out their eyes, nose, ears, mouth, lips, and even their tongues!
As the children made these discoveries, the teacher encouraged them to describe what they saw, helping to expand their vocabulary and reinforce the connection between words and real-life objects. Through this hands-on activity, the children not only learned the names of their facial features, but also developed important skills such as self-awareness, body recognition, and verbal expression.
The session was filled with laughter, curiosity, and a sense of wonder as each child proudly named their features and saw themselves with a new perspective. It was a delightful and meaningful way to foster a deeper connection with themselves while having fun in the process!
Horticulture
“A Corridor of Green Discoveries!”
As part of the horticulture session, the teacher thoughtfully set up a mini garden filled with a variety of potted plants, each with unique colors, shapes, and textures. With curious eyes and eager hands, the children explored the display, gently touching the leaves and noticing how each one felt—some smooth, some rough, and some even a little fuzzy!
They were truly amazed to see the wide range of leaf shapes, plant sizes, and vibrant colors. This sensory-rich experience not only sparked their natural curiosity but also helped them build vocabulary, observation skills, and a deeper appreciation for the beauty of nature. It was a wonderful hands-on learning experience that brought the magic of the garden right to their fingertips!
Wellbeing
“Dab, Share, and Show You Care!”
In our "Sharing Love" activity, the children explored the joy of giving and friendship through a creative and heartwarming art experience. Using sponges and vibrant colours like red, yellow, and orange, the children dabbed paint onto heart-shaped cutouts, creating beautiful patterns filled with warmth and love. Once their hearts were decorated, the children gathered in a circle and took turns passing their hearts to friends, practicing kindness and connection through the simple act of giving.
Dabbing paint with sponges helped enhance their fine motor coordination, while choosing and blending vibrant colours encouraged creativity and colour recognition. Sharing their hearts with friends, supported social-emotional growth, fostering empathy, kindness, and a sense of belonging. The turn-taking process also nurtured patience, communication, and cooperative play within the group.
Literacy Circle
Picture talk
In the literacy circle session, our learners participated in a delightful picture talk activity using the story Garry’s Garden. We sat together in a cozy circle, creating a calm and inviting space for thoughtful observation and sharing. As the book was gently passed along, each child had a turn to look closely at the pictures and describe what they saw.
From flowers and butterflies to birds, a boy, and the colorful garden itself, the children eagerly shared their observations using their own words. This activity helped enhance their vocabulary, encouraged attention, and built confidence in speaking aloud within a group. It was a great way to nurture language development and imagination.
STREAM
Tiny Builders: Stack, Balance, and Build
Our learners engaged in a hands-on STREAM session along with the building blocks, exploring the concepts of stacking, balancing, and comparing sizes. Using colourful building blocks, they practiced their engineering skills by building tall and short towers while developing fine motor control. Through guided play, learners identified shapes and sizes, used vocabulary like “tall”, “short”, and “stack”, and experimented balancing and keeping the towers standing. This playful building experience encouraged creativity, early math language as well as concepts, and collaborative problem-solving thereby, laying the foundation for spatial awareness and design thinking.
ART
Exploring Color Media
This week, our learners dove into a world of color and creativity during a vibrant session held in the art room. A large sheet of paper was laid out on the floor, and our young artists eagerly gathered around it, ready to create together. Using an exciting mix of art tools—crayons, sketch pens, paintbrushes, toothbrushes, and even their fingers, the children expressed themselves freely. They dipped, dabbed, stroked, and swirled with joy, experimenting with colours and textures. Some used sponges for bold shapes, others used fingers to blend and smudge, while others created fine details with sketch pens and brushes. This open-ended, collaborative experience encouraged creativity, exploration, and sensory engagement. It also supported the development of fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and social interaction as the children shared space and materials with their peers. It was a joyful, messy, and colourful experience where imagination had no limits—and the results were as unique as each little artist!
Atelier
Clay Atelier
Our young learners immersed themselves in a delightful and hands-on sensory experience as they explored the world of play dough. The classroom buzzed with excitement as the children squished, rolled, pressed, and molded the dough using a variety of tools such as rollers, plastic cutters, shape molds, and even their fingers. With each squeeze and roll, they not only engaged in a fun activity but also strengthened essential fine motor skills, including finger control and hand muscle development, thereby enhancing the skills that are important for writing and self-help tasks like buttoning and zipping. As the play continued, creativity and imagination took center stage. Some children made pretend food like cookies and pizzas, while others crafted animals, flowers, or abstract shapes of their own invention. The open-ended nature of the activity encouraged storytelling, problem-solving, and social interaction as children shared tools and ideas with one another.
The soft, malleable texture of the play dough also provided a calming and sensory-rich experience, allowing each child to work at their own pace and explore freely. This fun-filled session was not just about play, it was about learning through movement, imagination, and joyful discovery. A truly meaningful way to support early development through tactile exploration!
Yoga
Stretching
Our energetic EY1 learners participated in a fun-filled stretching session, focusing on flexibility, balance, and overall physical awareness. This activity aimed to introduce young learners to the importance of stretching and movement.
During the sports session, our EY1 learners enthusiastically participated in various stretching activities, such as touching their toes, stretching their arms up high, and bending to the side. These exercises helped develop their flexibility and balance.
