International Dance Day is a global celebration of dance, held every year on April 29. It was established in 1982 by the International Theatre Institute (ITI).This date was chosen to commemorate the birthday of Jean-Georges Noverre (1727–1810), a French dancer and ballet master considered the creator of modern ballet. On 29th April 2025, we celebrated International Dance Day at our school.
The EY1 learners showcased a lively hip-hop dance style from the United States of America. We introduced the learners to the exciting world of Hip Hop dance, a vibrant and energetic dance style that encourages self-expression, creativity, and confidence. With fun beats and playful moves, our tiny dancers explored basic hip hop steps while learning to groove to the music.
The EY2 learners performed a graceful ballet dance using ribbons, adding elegance and color. Our little stars twirled, swayed, and danced with joy during this week’s special Ballet Dance with Ribbons activity! With colorful ribbons in hand, our EY2 dancers explored movement, rhythm, and balance in a fun and creative way.
The EY3 learners brought energy and rhythm through a vibrant jungle dance inspired by African traditions. The learners danced to rhythmic African beats, pretending to be lions, snakes, monkeys, and other jungle animals. Their lively movements and joyful expressions filled our hearts with pride! This playful yet meaningful dance not only introduced our young learners to the beauty of African culture, but also helped them build confidence, coordination, and a love for movement.
Mother’s Day was celebrated with warmth and creativity across the Early Years at Kanakia Kids. Our young learners from EY1, EY2 and EY3 expressed their love and appreciation by crafting heartfelt cards for their mothers. With tiny hands and big hearts, they decorated these cards using vibrant paper, stickers, and drawings, making each card a unique expression of love. This beautiful activity wasn’t just about creating art—it was a meaningful learning experience. Through this celebration, our learners developed emotional awareness by talking about their mothers and recognizing the love and care they receive every day. It helped build empathy and strengthened their ability to express gratitude. It helped in enhancing communication skills as they shared their thoughts, dictated simple messages, and used new vocabulary related to feelings and family. EY3 learners even formed sentences like “I love you because you read to me,” thereby building their language and literacy abilities. Children explored creativity and imagination by making choices about colours, patterns, and designs. This encouraged self-expression and confidence in their individual ideas and helped in improving fine motor skills while folding, cutting, sticking, and drawing which are essential foundational skills for writing and independent work. This event also helped in building social connections as they participated in a shared celebration, discussed their families, and admired each other’s creations, promoting social-emotional learning. The joy on their faces as they proudly presented their handmade cards truly reflected the spirit of the occasion. It was a day filled with love, laughter, and meaningful learning—an unforgettable tribute to the incredible role mothers play in our lives.
