7.2B: Earth's Dynamic Surface

Suggested classroom use: Have students complete this graphic organizer utilizing the information on the website.

This lesson is intended to take 50-120 minutes.  Students apply the engineering design process and take on the role of coastal engineers to protect shorelines.  They pretend they are competing with other engineering firms to address a town's erosion problems while taking into account the different stakeholders and their concerns.

Suggested Classroom Use: Use this activity after students have completed the unit challenge to enrich their experience and enhance their learning. 

These stand-alone investigations are designed to be used by teachers of any curriculum, but they are designed to complement Mi-STAR units.  

Suggested Classroom Use:  Use the Geospatial Analyst or Science Communicator lesson with Unit 7.2B.
